Battlefield Research

I have had a life-long interest in warfare, in particular the Second World War and post WW2 period. I have read very widely on the subject and travelled widely throughout Europe to many of the WW2 battlefields and areas of interest. This knowledge is useful for creating realistic battle scenarios, architectural modelling and the development of good game artificial intelligence and level layouts.

Tactics and Game AI

I have had a life-long interest in military history and have been a prolific reader on the subject. I have been particularly interested in 20th Century warfare and especially the Second World War.

Throughout my career I have been able to draw upon my extensive knowledge of warfare to develop and enhance the A.I. of the combat games I have worked on; primarily Without Warning and Dogs of War.

Normandy Photographs

Normandy

In 1997 I travelled throughout Normandy visiting the key sites associated with the allied invasion of Europe on the 6th of June 1944. I wanted to understand the complete tactical picture starting with the paratroop landings on the night of the 5th of June. The capture of Pegasus bridge by British paratroopers secured the East flank of the invasion and the US capture of St Mere Eglise secured the Western flank and route to Cherbourg. Arromanches was vital as the Mulberry floating harbour was stationed there and no visit to Normandy would be complete without visiting some of the famous gun batteries.
